A Case of Pure Re4 Cell Aplasia

Abstract

|
Pure red cell aplasia is a disorder which is characterized by severe normochromic
normocytic anemia, reticulocytopenia and decrease or absence of erythroblasts in
otherwise normal bone marrow.
The 72 year old male patient was admitted to our hospital because of facial edema
and vein distension on thoracoabdominal wall for 3 years, and dyspnea for 1 month. In
bone marrow aspiration, pure red cell aplasia is considered and, combined with SVC
syndrome, atypical pneumonia & pleural effusion, syphilis on radiologic and laboratory
finding. So we reported a case of pure red cell aplasia with brief review of literature.
